Gunmen kill at least seven at church funeral in Jordan

Attackers opened fire during a funeral at a Greek Orthodox church in the village of Hmoud, in Jordan's Karak governorate, on Friday, killing at least seven people and wounding about 40, AP reported. The BBC also reported seven dead.

Al Jazeera reported that King Abdullah ordered a firm response. According to AP, the attackers have not been identified.

Why it matters: The attack struck a Christian community in Jordan, a close US ally in a region already strained by the Iran war.
